Our beautiful wedding

Hello everyone!

It was an amazing two weeks filled with lots of family love and wedding celebrations. Today will be my 5th month as Mrs Tan. Here is a snapshot of our lunch reception, solemnisation and wedding dinner.

Lunch Reception at The Line, Shangri-La Hotel
Work up at 9am to get ready for the lunch reception. After sleeping late over the past few days preparing for the solemnisation. The Line had a really good spread of food but had to control myself. Not nice for bride to have a bulging stomach!

Solemnisation at Gardenasia, Neo Tiew Crescent
This is the most memorable day out of the rest. It was so magical all thanks to the help from FH colleagues, friends and wonderful hubby. Lloydy and I worked till 3 plus in the morning just to get the decor ready. Had a little squabble cos I wanted everything to be precise and perfect haha..but with a little forgiveness and humility the issue was solved. Thats the beauty of our relationship. He is the only person that makes me put aside my pride and apologise. Enough said, here are some photos of the beautiful day

New job, new life

hello everybardi! its been a dang long time since i posted something here. Lots of things have been happening in the past few mths and as far as the weight loss goes, i am finally getting close to achieving my target weight. From 83kg down to 62kg in approx 1yr!! Woohoo! Being 20kg ligher makes so much difference maan.. At least now i know tt i will look slighter better in my gown. The shape run’s coming up again and i just picked up my running kit! Gonna be running with gladys and her colleagues this year and am sure its gonna be fun! Best thing of all, the run is on the morning of my solemnisation. Lloydy’s worried that i might break my foot or peng san halfway so he’d rather i miss it, but i really hope to set a better record this year to commemorate my wedding day. So nowadays, i have been/or rather making an effort to look like) putting a lot of effort in training especially when we go gyming together w the hope that he will have more confidence that i will be able to come out of the run safely. Ok.. Time to meet mer and lulu for lunch now. Will update more soon!

ASH by Fresh Air For Women

*Fresh Air For Women is a client of Pretty Fatbulous*

I have been working hard on the ASH launch for Fresh Air For Women this week.
Absolutely awesome concept that everyone should really check out.
The event was at vivocity and today was the probably the most exciting day for me!

ASH is actually a pseudo makeup brand. It comes with a complete 5 pc makeup set (Liquid foundation, Loose powder, lipstick, blusher, nail polish).
What makes this product extra special is the contents within the product which is (brace yourself)..CIGARETTE ASH.

Over the past few days, I saw a lot of ladies who have been wowed by the concept of ASH. Due to the entire setup of the showcase, many women strut in thinking that its the latest range of makeup for sale. Some ladies even mistook it for the launch of Chanel’s latest makeup range.

It’s quite intriguing to watch the look on their faces change from puzzled to the sense of realisation.

As an ex-smoker, this ASH launch is something that I can relate to, having experienced the visible discolouration of my skin and yellowing of the white portions of my eyes.

It sad to know that more and more women are piking up smoking because of work stress and I hope that this campaign will help them to reconsider before lighting up the next stick.

I always believe that while man have the physical strength, women are queens of their inner strength which can empower them with the determination to do anything.

Met Sabrina, Jacelyn, Isabelle and Hosana this morning. Really awesome ladies with wonderful personalities. Thanks for coming down girls!

I’ll be uploading some photos of the event shortly. :)

Pink Ribbon Run – Another run completed for Year 2009!

I did it again! Another 5km run to close the end of the year.
This time, i did it in 36min!! woohoo!

Last Saturday marked the comeback of my healthy body. I’ve completed my 2nd 5km run for the year in just under 36min! I’m really pleased with myself. Lloydy and I started training over the past two months in the hope of losing with weight for the wedding (and also for the sake of wanting to buy insurance without incurring the cost of high premiums) and that has served us really well! Been feeling a lot strong these days and I’ve reduced my timing by 5mins in just 2mths! Awesome achievement..
Lloydy was there to support me at the event (Thank you Baby!) Though I know he’s rather much prefer to sleep in on a Sunday,
he still dragged himself up at 6am to send me to East Coast Park. Lloydy calls it torture while but I call it a challenge!

We got there at around 7am. Thankfully, there were not as many partipants as compared to the SHAPE run, so I could was
actually quite a few steps behind the starting point.

Will upload some photos soon of the event.

On a whole, I am really pleased at my progress and I hope that I will be able to reduce my timing by another few minutes at the next run. What that means for Lloydy is more early morning drives to these competitions and darker eye bags! LOL..

The one with the SHAPE RUN 2009

I’ve done it!! Gathered enough courage to run the the 5km again this year. I was kinda traumatised after I almost knocked out last year at the finishing line cause I couldn’t breathe. But yes! I made it through!
Arrived at 6.30am this morning at Millenia Walk to a sea of pink walking towards the bag deposit centre. Lloydy was such a darling as he agreed to come down to support me! That also meant that I could dump my bag in his car. Haha..
After doing some stretching, Nura and I decided to empty our bladders before the run. Though we thought that the need to pee during the race might help us to run faster and improve our time, but running in urine-soaked undies to the finishing line was not gonna do our image any justice. So off to the toilet we went. As expected, there was not one but two snaking queues to the female and MALE toilets! Yes, the girls took over the guys toilets too. One guy retreated in defeat when he saw the entourage of girls jammed in the Male toilets. “Sorry! You don’t exist today!” shouted one of the girls jokingly as he retraced his steps to the shopping mall.

Nura did well and finished her run in 30min while I huffed and puffed to the finishing line in just under 40min. Eventhough i took longer than last year, one significant difference is how good I felt after the run.  After having given up smoking, my body has significantly improved! Unlike last year, I was not stuggling to breathe, neither did I have any signs of fainting. Its a new beginning towards getting back a healthier and stronger mind and body.

We’ve finally found our solemnisation venue!

We’ve been checking out wedding venues over the past month or so and now we have finally confirmed a venue for the solemnisation and dinner! Lloydy found a quaint location away from the hustle and bussle of the city, called Gardenasia. A nice quiet place where we can solemnize our marriage with our loved ones. Although I was pretty exasperated by the management of the company (they decided not honour the packages that we initially agreed upon and suggested that we settle for an entirely new package which was almost 2K more then the previous package) I am happy to say that my man settled it well with the ladies of Gardenasia and we have locked down the location for our solemnisation!

Here are some photos of the place

So proud of my bee for finding such a wonderful location! Next up is the venue for our wedding dinner!

Troubled over weight loss

Received a comment from a guy called Dave on weight loss comparisons which brought up a topic that I have wanted to address for a long time. Pill-popping to lose weight. There are various pills in the market, some of which I have come to know of such as Reductil and Xenical. Another popular product that’s has kept a lot of aunties busy is the monstrous MLM brand Herbalife who has successfully marketed ice-cream flavoured shakes and a huge number of pills as meal replacements to grabbed a portion of the weight-loss pie. With that, came the purple dragon, the LFI corporation, who is currently trying to give herbalife a run for their money. Commercial competitors in the industry consists of the brands like Xando who utilise mediacorp stars to publicise their products, which to some, can be considered as an ineffective move to convince women to try their tasteless diet food. While it is certainly creative to come out with “diet dishes” such as “diet fish curry” and “diet soup” in a packet, one can only link the logic of possible weight loss from the small amount of food that is provided within the packet. correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t curry contain lotsa oil and milk? doesn’t sound very healthy to me..

The one with the bridal package

Lloydy and I have been searching for wedding stuff over the past two months. We’ve finally gotten our bridal package from La Belle Couture, one of the studios down at Tanjong Pagar. We got quite a comprehensive package from them but I was not impressed with the actual day photographers that they have been engaging for actual day photography. While browsing through the photos, i realised that their photos don’t capture any emotions at all! Hope I will be able to find someone who will be able to do it at reasonable cost. Think I shouldn’t have signed up so quickly..should have waited to get a better idea of the concept of the wedding before signing up with them.

The One with the weight loss

Its been God knows how long since I started on my weight lost. I am happy to say that I managed to drop my weight from 82kg to 75kg! Thanks to a couple of things: -

- accupuncture

- oats

- “some” exercise

Ok.. I must admit that I have not really been exercising because of how crazy work has been! But I must say that I was really amazed at the amount of weight I lost when I started my acupuncture sessions. When we first started, I was 82kg and Lloydy was 129kg. (yes we’re huge) On our first consultation, the sinseh advised us to start replacing our carbohydrate intake with Oats. So no rice and no noodles. You can imagine the alarm bells ringing in my head when I heard that. After that, sinseh took my pulse rate and sat me down in a chair. That’s when the excitement began.

He jabbed four needles into each leg. Two into my ankle, one into my shin and one into the top of my knee. After 15mins, he would tweek the needles to stimulate the acupoints which feels kinda itchy and sometimes painful. But after 6 sessions of weekly 30min treatments, I lost 6kg! Its really amazing, but now I am starting to cheat on my diet again. Gotta get my act together or I will never lose weight!

Did I mention that I’m getting married next year? :)

The day when I didnt want to be disturbed
